At Plum Design & Publishing, our aim is to help every author get their book published easily and professionally. We do that using self-publishing and print-on-demand technology as it allows control, flexibility, speed, quality and low cost.
After an initial chat on the phone, if you live locally (we are based in Berkshire), we will meet for a coffee (or talk on Skype) to discuss your book project in details and your goals. Then we will decide if we are a good fit to work together.
The self-publishing process can appear overwhelming, so we will be with you every step of the way and guide you through the maze of self-publishing. We will handle the complex bits for you, so you won’t have to worry about anything.
At the end of your project:
- You will have a professional author brand and book to be proud of.
- You will publish under your own imprint – you will be the publisher (unless you opt in for a free ISBN number).
- You will have 10 to 40 complimentary copies to give out to your friends, family and clients, depending on the package you purchase.
- You will keep 100% of the royalties - we don’t hold you in a contract to buy copies from us nor take any cuts as we believe in giving you total freedom.
- We will show you how to:
- Use your print on demand dashboards
- How to make any changes to your book data
- How to order your own copies at print cost
- How to check your sales and royalties.

MEET THE TEAM
Chrystel Melhuish
FOUNDER & MANAGING DIRECTORChrystel is a Graphic Designer and Book Publisher with over 15 years’ creative design experience. In the last three years she’s expanded her graphic design service to include book design and publishing.
In her former role as a Visual Communications Manager, Chrystel was responsible for all company’s visuals and also the design and branding of multi million pound bids. Chrystel has transferred this valuable experience to her own business, Plum Design & Publishing Ltd.
Since 2013 she's been supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs with their branding, graphic design and book publishing needs. In 2016 she was voted winner of two Star Business Awards with the Bestof Woking.
Chrystel has published 37 books for the past 5 years for her clients as well as her own series of gratitude journals, which she sold over 5,000 copies to date. To find out more about her journals, visit www.inspiringjournals.com
A French native, Chrystel speaks English fluently and enjoys using her rusty Spanish. In her spare time, she loves traveling, walking in the forest, exploring new places, dancing, cycling and going to the cinema.
Theresa Finley
COPY WRITER, EDITOR & PROOFREADERT makes sure the keys to our storytelling wonderland are polished to a T!
She is an experienced developmental editor of books and editor of several business magazines. After twenty years working for big brands like Debenhams, House of Fraser, JLL, Savills, YSL, and many independent SMEs (like you!); she has an excellent understanding of what it’s like to run a business and can help you share your knowledge on the pages of a book.
T’s antidote to long hours at a PC is spending as much time as she can outdoors in nature, and she is a huge fan of road cycling: doing it and watching it! She plays the guitar (extremely badly but tries not to care). She will also act as a willing co-conspirator to anybody who loves to make people laugh as much as she does…usually with her crazy partner, Darren.
